AssignParticipant adds a member to the contest, and the same call adds an entire community group at once when given a group instead of a member. A group is expanded once, at the moment of the call: members who join or leave the group afterwards are not added to or removed from the contest. It can also create a ghost, a placeholder standing in for a result imported from elsewhere rather than for a real member.
