RunValidation compiles the validator given in the request, starts checking every test of the problem with it, and returns the new validation id together with its initial state. The validator is not written to the problem — this is how a candidate is tried out before TestingService.UpdateValidator stores it. Starting a validation supersedes any earlier one still in flight, which ends up cancelled.
